Let’s Talk Hair!

In Go-to Look, Maternity chic, Trends on August 31, 2012 at 12:26 am

Sound familiar? I have the same thought multiple times a week actually! Between being a mom, a wife,  a full-time student, or a leader in your community/church we are all super busy. So who really has enough time to do their hair?! In response to my cute friend Shealyn, here are my top 5 easy hairstyles to make your mornings go by faster and still look effortlessly chic!

1. Ponytails

The Sleek Pony

For a more polished and refined look, wrap a section of hair around the elastic. And add a touch of volume at the crown for added texture.

Or go low, for a glamorous look!

Here you’ll find 10 easy ways to dress up your ponytail

2. Low Buns

Perfect for this Fall season! Go extra low for a more sophisticated look.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. Think effortless!

The leaves are changing color, the smell of crisp air is already here,  which can only mean one thing: Fall is just around the corner! Making me a very happy girl, indeed!

I can’t wait to get my hands on my cozy, warm sweaters, long coats, fuzzy socks (yes, fuzzy socks!) and of course, my favorite pair of boots!!

What is the one thing you are most looking forward to wearing this Fall?

How to Style like a Pro

In Maternity chic, Trends on August 26, 2012 at 10:17 am

Have you ever wondered how certain girls seem to look good no matter what they’re wearing? They could be wearing a simple tee shirt, pair it with jeans and still look amazing! So what’s the secret to looking fabulous even in the most basic clothes? The styling! Adding the right accessories can make or break an outfit and go from boring to stunning! Once you’ve got it down, you’ll always look great no matter what you’re wearing. And the best part is that you can find show-stopping accessories at any budget. Here are some fabulous tips on how to amp up your outfits this Fall season:

1. A statement scarf

Perk up any plain outfit with an eye-catching scarf. It adds a dose of color and keeps you warm and cozy during the freezing months.

2. A long necklace

Long necklaces add long vertical lines, making you look taller and leaner. Now who doesn’t want that?!  Remember to keep your shirt/top simple when adding a long necklace to your ensemble, it will keep it from looking too over the top.

3. A bold belt

A bright colored belt not only will draw attention to your baby bump and away from other areas you are not so fond of, but it will also create the illusion of a waistline!

4. Black booties

A versatile black bootie is the must-have shoe of the season! It complements any outfit and adds a bit of height without being  uncomfortable. It looks great when pairing with skinny jeans, leggings or opaque tights.

5. A structured Bag

Structured bags add sophistication to any outfit. Go edgy with a bold colored one or classy with a simple black one.

Giveaway…

In Giveaway, Go-to Look, Maternity chic, Outfits on August 20, 2012 at 12:51 am

I am so excited to be teaming up with Houston Kraft and his Choose to Love movement. In Houston’s work as a keynote speaker, leadership coach and kindness advocate he travels the country teaching young people about servant leadership,  acceptance, and love.

His site www.houstonkraft.com is dedicated to simple lessons, thoughts & ideas regarding servant leadership and its ability to impact yourself, others and the world.

The Choose Love t-shirt (we’re giving one away, see info below) are part of the “Lead With Love” movement, which emphasizes character education in schools. Each shirt is hand-printed and hand-tagged, with all the proceeds going into the development of programs, videos and applications that support youth making positive choices.

Not only is it a great cause but its also the softest shirt I’ve ever owned!! It’s fitted and hugs my curves perfectly, which is exactly what my growing baby bump needs!

I would encourage each of you to support the cause by visiting www.houstonkraft.com and considering buying a shirt. In the mean time…

We are giving  away a Choose Love t-shirt to one lucky My Chic Bump reader!!  🙂

And the winner of the Choose to Love giveaway is ….

Congrats Katie!

Tickle Me Pink

In Maternity chic, Outfits on August 13, 2012 at 12:34 am

Top: Forever21, Pants: (Last seen here), Shoes: Aldo (On Sale!)

It’s official! Bring on the pink because we are having a GIRL!

10 Things I am really excited about …

1. SHOPPING! because let’s face it, dressing up little girls is so much fun!

2. Sharing the same relationship my mom and I have with my girls . There is no stronger bond than a mother-daughter relationship.

3. Having another little baker/helper around the house.

4. My little Naomi being a big sister now. Getting a little teary just thinking about it.

5. Watching Naomi help out with her baby sister, like “helping” me wipe her face like she already does to every kid in Nursery haha!

6. Dancing in tutus all day long!

7. Decorating two more rooms of the house in PINK!

8. Watching both my girls fall in love with their dad and wait for him by the front window, like Naomi does now.

9. Another excuse to watch reruns of my (I mean, Naomi’s) favorite movie: The Little Mermaid!!

10. Being showered with hugs and kisses every single day!
